Anonymous asked: Thoughts on the Reign news today?
Move 1: Bogus to KCFC for draft picks. Well, like they said Bogus wasn’t going to get much time now that the team was better. She’s a nice locker room person, gave 100% effort even if the results weren’t spectacular, and stayed healthy. Those were her three main assets. None of them impactful, but handy if you have a young team needing experience and leadership. She was the very last person on the field signing autographs at the game I went to in Chicago. So…great bench player for another team. Reign is at a different class now. The starting XI looks terrific and the remaining players need to fit and she no longer did. Also, now people can shut up about draft picks. Or Reign can use them in another trade. I’m not sure where we are in the 30 pt plan. I’m a little surprised they didn’t manage to send her to Chicago, but KCFC is at least close. She’s going to a healthy team so good for her.
Move 2: I’ve been following Beverly Goebel since she began over in Japan as she’s a blogger, accessible via team videos, and I love Japan. I was hoping we’d get her since she expressed interest in a recent podcast about coming back, but she also seems to loooove Japan so… never expected it. Then when Reign traded the rights to her counterpart to Portland for Foxhoven I just figured if Reign was in the Japan gambit they traded their one piece. Little did I know Reign secured rights to BOTH Americans I was following in Japan. Bev… I am interested in how her game holds up against physical players and good goalkeepers, but it isn’t like she is going to forget her ball skills. I don’t think she’ll get 15 goals like in Japan, but I think she adds another scoring dimension and craftiness. She’s a quality player any team would have liked to have. I’m glad she’s on our side. She’s only on loan which is cool. Japan took her in much like Sweden took Press in. She fits in there well, but I’m sure she’ll enjoy a stint with the Reign. Hopefully her fans in Japan will be able to follow her while she’s here.
